Hiring: Financial Manager

Job Description

Exile International is seeking a qualified and passionate Financial Manager to come alongside EI and partner with us in restoring rescued child survivors of war to become leaders for peace through art-focused trauma care and holistic, rehabilitative care. This Nashville-based position is full time and includes benefits.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable;
  • Oversee and administer payroll;
  • Prepare quarterly income statements and balance sheets;
  • Read, assess, and monitor monthly financial reports received from EI program partners;
  • Maintain accounting and donor management systems;
  • Review and manage bank deposits, statements, transfers, wires, and general banking needs;
  • Review and track general ledger accounts for accuracy;
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process;
  • Develop annual budget and budgets for trips, events, etc;
  • Take the lead on presenting financial documents in quarterly board meetings;
  • Classify data accurately according to Organization’s chart of accounts and class system;
  • Track and classify all donations, including special projects and restricted donations, in accordance with ECFA guidelines;
  • Communicate with African teams regarding programming financial needs and budgeting;
  • Coordinate with CPA to track, register and pay all taxes (sales and employee), licenses, and renewals;
  • Act as grant supervisor – ensuring grant reports are completed and submitted on-time;
  • Participates in the planning and development of annual financial program goals and objectives in conjunction with the strategic plan;
  • Provide Organization’s team with advice and/or recommendations to improve cash flow management, increase revenue, and decrease expenditures;
  • Ensure proper implementation of financial policies and procedures;
  • Ensure the security of historical financial and operational data.



  • Mature orthodox Christian faith, as indicated by an agreement with EI’s Statement of Faith;
  • Bachelor Degree in accounting;
  • 3+ years experience in nonprofit accounting;
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and thrive in a high volume environment;
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and clear communication skills;
  • Demonstrated success with strategic planning;
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting;
  • Experience using accounting software to prepare internal and external reports;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Quickbooks;
  • Ability to plan, organize, allocate and control substantial resources;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with program staff and community agency representatives;
  • Knowledge of and experience in external reporting to local and national government bodies including, but not limited to, preparing the annual external audit, taxes, etc.;
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor staff during the rollout of new financial initiatives and transitions
  • Payroll process and tax reporting experience (understanding of legislation and policies regarding payroll).
