Meet Angela – Survivor, Artisan, Leader

reclaiming her independence

Thanks to opportunities to make and sell her jewelry, Angela is reclaiming the independence that was once stolen by the LRA. Today, she is able to care for her children and save money to buy her own land. Angela also leads local development projects serving young mothers and children who were formerly captive to the LRA.

You can support Angela and other artisans by purchasing their handmade jewelry here:

Many of the pieces were made by Angela and a small group of child-mothers (girls abducted at an early age who have returned from the bush with child) in Gulu, Uganda. Each of these women is a survivor of LRA atrocities. Making and selling this beautiful jewelry economically empowers them to support themselves and provide for their children who were born in captivity.
