Returning Home
During the war, Esther was separated from her family. She held on to the hope that she would one day return home—to the people and place she knew.
But when Esther finally arrived, her home had been destroyed. Her parents had been killed during the conflict. Only her elderly grandmother remained, welcoming Esther with relief and love.
Outside her grandmother’s home, Esther faced a different response.
People in the surrounding community kept their distance. Some blamed her for losses they had experienced during the war. Without food, clothing, or a place where she felt accepted, Esther found herself carrying both grief and rejection.
She had made it home, but she still had no place where she felt she belonged.

A Simple Invitation
One day, a woman approached Esther and offered her friendship.
Esther was hesitant, but she listened as the woman invited her to join an Exile International Peace Club.
There, Esther encountered something she had been missing: a community that welcomed her just as she was. She found people willing to listen to her story without judging or rejecting her.
That sense of belonging opened the door to something more.

Healing, Learning, and Building a Future
Through Exile International, Esther received Christ-centered trauma care and learned about healing and forgiveness. She was given a safe place to share her experiences and the support of people who listened.
She also received help with basic needs, including food and clothing.
Esther later returned to school and learned tailoring—a skill she had long hoped to pursue.
Today, Esther works as a tailor. The income she earns helps her provide for herself and her grandmother.
Not everyone in Esther’s community has fully accepted her. But instead of returning rejection with rejection, she is learning to respond with kindness and love—grounded in the truth that we love because Christ first loved us.
The young woman who once wondered whether she had any place left to belong is now building a more stable future for herself and the grandmother who welcomed her home.
And it began with a simple invitation.
