Meet Catherine
This is Catherine. Catherine is one of five children. War broke out in her village when she was very young, and her father died in the war. Soon after, her mother was shot and killed while she was collecting food and firewood for the family.
This left Catherine and her siblings orphaned and in a very desperate situation – being forced to work in fields to earn enough money to eat. Thankfully, Catherine and her siblings found their way to an EI care program in Congo.
When she arrived, Catherine had trauma signs that presented as violent. She also had many fears for her safety and not having enough food to eat. But, slowly – after receiving love, affection, and care – she began to feel a sense of belonging.
Today Catherine is happy. She likes to discover new games to play with friends and loves to sing her heart out.
