A Closer Look
Exile’s Trauma Healing Program is a three-tier curricula based model. The curriculum focuses on healing trauma in the lives of child survivors of war, while also equipping them with tools and skills to thrive and become leaders for peace in their communities.
Faith significantly informs our curriculum. We partner with the American Bible Society and use the Trauma Healing Institute’s curriculum Healing the Wounds of Trauma. This curriculum is infused with the life-giving teachings of the Gospel to heal hearts affected by trauma.
Art focused trauma care is also an essential part of the curriculum. Expressive Therapy — including music, drama, dance, games, and art — helps children in Exile’s programs share their stories and overcome trauma.
Curricula Based Model
1 — Trauma Healing, Forgiveness, & Emotional Resilience
1 — Peace-Building & Conflict Resolution
3 — Leadership Development & Discipleship
Owing much to the acclaimed teachings John Maxwell, this curriculum was written and developed by a Congolese survivor of war for the youth of DR Congo. Through mentoring and lessons on key principles of leadership, youth are empowered to become leaders. Alongside practical opportunities to grow, youth are inspired by examples of great leaders, like Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr., who overcame adversity to lead and inspire generations.
.Changing their communities and the world!
We believe in empowering local community leaders to bring up the new generation of leaders. Exile’s staff and counselors are well-equipped with training to ensure that the children in our programs receive the best care possible. Because, we don’t just want these children to survive, we want them to thrive and to change their communities and the world!
