Looking at this amazing smile, one may never guess what these eyes have seen.
At age 9, the LRA attacked Samuel’s home. These rebels would take Samuel and his two sisters as captives after first murdering their father in front of them.
Miraculously, he and his two sisters would survive years as captives and were reunited.
Yet the pain and trauma of such experiences do not dissipate on their own. Through art therapy and rehabilitative care, among peers and in the safety of loving caregivers, wounds are being healed.
As you may see in his smile… hope and joy are being restored!
Today, Samuel aids his mother in leading their household – looking after his younger sisters and managing their crops. In 2012, he received a sponsorship and was able to return to school… but not before making arrangements to ensure his beloved sisters were cared for also.
What a beautiful heart and example to peers… we love this guy!
This bright, big-hearted young man is plugged into a care program that is helping him heal the wounds of his past and is equipping him to become a leader for peace in his community.
