Planting Seeds of Hope with Tearfund

Have you heard about Exile’s latest partnership?

Working in over 50 of the world’s most vulnerable nations, Tearfund empowers local churches to transform their communities — tackling extreme poverty and global injustice — knowing that all things are possible with God. We are honored that Tearfund recently launched a partnership with Exile to inspire peace in DR Congo, a nation known for corruption, conflict, and rebel violence.

To change the trajectory of the war-torn nation, Tearfund is partnering with Exile International to teach child survivors of war agricultural and entrepreneurial skills to spark hope for a brighter and more peaceful future across the DRC

Here’s how it works:

🌱 Leaders begin by planting seeds and teaching rescued child soldiers to care for growing plants.

🌱  As the youth tend to the gardens, Exile local leaders guide them through different business models — providing a place to dream and a sense of financial responsibility.

🌱The youth harvest the potatoes and begin to sell them at local markets.

🌱 Leaders then divide the profits among the youth.

🌱 With these profits, child survivors of war choose between purchasing seeds to plant new crops or using the funds to support new business ventures!

Throughout the six-month project, these youth gain a sense of accountability and purpose — inspiring hope for a better tomorrow for themselves, their families, and their community.

We praise God for this partnership, which is impacting dozens of youth across five of Exile’s peace programs. Through Exile’s peace-building curriculum and vocational training, guided by Tearfund, 50+ rescued child soldiers in Exile’s programs are laying the foundation for successful futures… and this is only the beginning!

An end to poverty and injustice in Congo is coming, and it all begins with child survivors of war.
