Field Updates – Christmas Celebrations & Baptisms

Because of you, children who once lived under coercion, violence, and exploitation are experiencing something profoundly different — safety, dignity, and belonging.

As the year came to a close, many of the children in our care celebrated Christmas surrounded by community — sharing meals, receiving new clothes, and marking a season of joy they once thought was lost. These moments may seem simple, but for children who have survived child soldiering, trafficking, sexual exploitation, and enslavement, they represent something far deeper: restored humanity.

For many of the young people Exile serves, childhood was interrupted by forces beyond their control — abducted into armed groups, forced into labor or combat, and subjected to exploitation no child should endure. Child soldiering is one of the most pervasive forms of human trafficking in conflict zones, and its effects run deep.

Yet healing is possible.

Because of your partnership, these children are no longer defined by what was done to them. They are surrounded by trauma-informed care, trusted mentors, and safe community — the conditions necessary for true restoration.

One of the most powerful moments this season was witnessing baptisms — young men and women publicly choosing faith and new life after years of captivity and loss. These moments reflect a deeper truth: freedom is not just the absence of chains, but the presence of hope.

As Scripture reminds us, “If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation.” That promise is being lived out — not in theory, but in real lives — because you chose to act.

Your generosity interrupts cycles of exploitation and replaces them with pathways toward healing, leadership, and peace.

Would you consider continuing that momentum as we move forward — helping ensure that children who have survived trafficking and war can continue their journey toward wholeness?
